Our First Week In Grade 1

It has been such an exciting first week in Grade 1! The students are fantastic, and I have had so much fun learning with them. Below is an Animoto Slideshow showing some of the highlights of this week. Enjoy watching this video with your child! What did your child enjoy most about this week? I would love it if you would leave a comment here and let me know.

Can't wait to hear what you have to say!

Hi Aviva
I am a Prep (5-6 year olds) teacher in Melbourne Australia. I am always so impressed with your generosity. I have learnt so much about integrating technology in the classroom from you. This July I have started a class blog - http://prepblackburnsouth.blogspot.com/ and I am modelling to my students the protocols of being online. Thank you for sharing! I have learnt so much from you.

I am really interested in how you use Twitter in the classroom. I can see that it is an amazing tool but am unsure how to actually use with a class. Who do you twitter with? How often? Do your children type their own tweets? I hope you don't mind answering my questions.
Many thanks
Marie

I use Twitter in the classroom in numerous ways. Sometimes we tweet together about our day (using the keyboard on the SMART Board) on my Twitter account. I also have two class Twitter accounts, and students use the iPod Touches to tweet about what they're learning and what they're doing. I work a time into the end of each day for this tweeting. It seems to work well! They really enjoy having some ownership over the tweets. I also have some other classes from around the world that tweet back to us, and then we can answer their questions too. Hope this helps! Your e-mail address didn't work, so hopefully you'll check back here for my reply.

Thanks so much Aviva. I appreciate your reply. Unfortunately I put a comma instead of a dot at the end of my email address. Must have been late! Thanks again. Will try Twitter in the new term
