I took this video footage this morning of one of my students explaining our Read to Self Centre. Listen as she discusses the Reading Strategies (you may need to turn up the volume). This video clip makes me realize that students of all ages can be leaders. We just need to give them the power to do so. I hope that you'll share your great little leaders' experiences here too.

Priceless!
Thanks for the comment, Linda! I think that "priceless" says it best of all.
I like the fact that she says she's been using strategies a lot and teaching them to her mom and dad - clearly she understands that reading strategies are not just for that centre, but a skill for life. Thanks for sharing, Aviva!
Thanks Dale! I really like that too. The funny thing is that she knows how to read the title of the book (she had actually done so mere minutes before I started recording), but she wanted to demonstrate how to use these strategies, so she did what I often do: she pretended she didn't know a word, and then asked for student assistance. I thought it was just great, and I was so glad that I got the moment on video!
Thanks again for the comment!

Hi Aviva. Loved how you captured this moment. Where I teach for the conferencing part lead by the student we have pictures on paper that will help support our young grade 1 and 2 students when they talk about their work samples and learning on Nov. 12 )Parent Conference
Thanks for the comment, James! I love the idea of having pictures on paper to help the Grade 1's and 2's. I think that I'll do this for my Student Led Conferences too.
Thank you for sharing the idea!
